Graduation Day

Jeff had his Graduation Ceremony at the Thomas and Mac Center. It was a good day for everyone. Grandma and Grandpa Mecham and Tebbs came. Quite a few of my brothers and sisters came, as well as Doug and Mary and Jen and Nate from Kathy's family. It was good to see so many family members come to show their support. I tried to post a couple of videos the night before, but was so tired that I ended up falling asleep and nothing posted. I did learn from this that if you want to have lots of people respond to your post then all you really have to do is put up a couple of empty posts and everyone will respond.

Jeff was busy during the Graduation ceremony. His choir sang the National Anthem, He then gave his valedictorian address (I will try posting that later) and then he performed with his good friend Danniel. They sang the song that was chosen to be the class song. It was neat to watch. Jeff and Danniel have been friends since we moved to our home when he was in junior high school. As you can see in this video she is a great singer, and we couldn't have hand picked a better friend for Jeff if we wanted to. She also was Valedictorian and gave an inspiring speech before this song.

When it was time to perform Jeff and Danniel walked down to the piano and Jeff sat down to play. I didn't realize that he was also going to play the piano and was nervous for him. I looked around and saw how many people there were in the place. I worried what if there is a funny reverb and they might end up sounding like Rossane during the national anthem. I worry too much.

They sang their song and it was awesome. Again, we are so proud of Jeff and all of his accomplishments throughout his high school career. I hear about how awful the school system is, and then I look at what he has been able to gain from his education. I read about how horrible teenagers are and I look at his friends and realize that they are caring, concerned citizens and leaders. I look forward to watch and see what many of these kids will accomplish in life and it gives me hope.

Enjoy the song.

  1. It's hard to believe you have a child graduating! It looks like you and Kathy have good reason to be so proud of your children.
