Last night I received a phone call from my youngest brother Randy. He called and said that he was coming over. This is kind of a scary thing when one of my brothers or sisters says they are coming over without any kind of explanation as to why. 15 minutes later he showed up at the door with his girlfriend Bri. I thought maybe they were coming over to make an announcement, but then I saw the bag, and I knew that everything was alright. I am not sure how long Bri and Randy have been dating now, but I can tell you that of the girls that he has dated, we like her most. Normally the girlfriends that aren't appreciated by the brothers and sisters get a nickname (who can forget Gumby). Bri doesn't have a nickname. It may have even gotten to the point that if they ever break up, Randy may have to be the one that has to leave, and we will keep Bri.
Randy's girlfriends pre-Bri (that rhymes) don't even stack up, I don't think we could tell you anything about them, but Bri is different, we like her. We even know quite a bit about her. What do we know about Bri? Lets get started with the list.
Bri is the Taco Lady. There are Tacos, and then there are Bri tacos. She came over once and made them for my kids, and they still talk about them.

For her Birthday she brought me a present. Her Mom made these homemade Tamales. Unfortunately my kids like her Tamales as much as they like her Tacos, so they didn't even make it through the night. If she shows up carrying the bag, you know it is your lucky day.
Bri with Cherises bag (I think I got more)She is not Vain. I can even post her unflattering photos with her eyes partially opened and she doesn't get mad. (click on photo for full effect)
She Likes Dorks. Randy is just the beginning of the Dorks that Bri has fallen for. Here are some of the other dorks that she has mad raging crushes on.
On new years eve Randy had to work. This is the picture that Darren took on his I-phone and sent to him. This is my teenage nephew planting one on Bri. This was the first time that Travis actually kissed a girl, and he liked it. The problem with this is that now the bar is set so high that we don't know if there will ever be a second girl that he kisses.
Don't ask...... I can't begin to explain.
Bri is a Daddy's girl. She has a brother and is the only girl, so this has probably led to her living the life of a princess. There is nothing wrong with this, we just aren't sure if Randy will be able to keep up with the treatment that she is accustomed to.
Her parents are so cool. There is a Hispanic-Cajun bloodline mix going on. This has got to make for some fun family reunion stories, and some killer good food. We have had her Mom and Dad over for some of the family functions. Last year when we found out that they were not coming to the 4th of July party we almost cancelled it.
She is afraid of Mice. Machelle pulled a prank on her where she sat out a huge Rat trap. When Bri was told that they were trying to trap a rat that had been loose in the house, she freaked out and climbed on the kitchen table. Eventually Machelle let her know that there was not a rat, but she still didn't want to come down.
She is great with kids. The nieces love her. Long before Riley and Chloe would come to any of us, they would snuggle up to her. If Bri is sitting down, there is usually a fight to see who gets to sit next to her.

She doesn't know the difference between a quesa dilla and a T.C.T. She gets mad if you call it a T.C.T. for a while we would tease her and make T.C.Ts out of everything. We made chicken T.C.Ts. Breakfast T.C.T's , Alfredo T.C.T's Italian T.C.T's. We finally decided to give the T.C.T. joke a rest when it almost resulted in food poisoning. (Besides, we had killed it as a joke, and were only doing it towards the end to see who would eat what we made).
She is nice to Randy. I like to see how they interact, it seems to me that they are both very much in love (or really heavy like). She has been a big supporter of his quest to become a firefighter. (no, she did not apply undue pressure on her dad to get him on, the joke is getting old). And he is supportive of her schooling. They seem to know what they want to do in life, and are working hard to get there.

This is the list of some of the things that I know about Bri. You know how sometimes you meet someone and just know that you like them? This is how it has been with our family and her. Randy, I am lousy at giving advice and try not to do it too often, but please listen to me when I tell you not to mess this one up.

Happy B-day Bri! We do love you! But, how come we have never seen one of those bags at our house??
ReplyDeleteya me neither ..... hmmmmm we need to talk!!!! happy b day month bri!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWAIT!!!! Those tamales that she had in her hands outside of my house were NOT for me!! She was afaid that she would leave them, so she carried them around for 3 days! Haahaha So on a technicallity, I haven't had one of those bags either! Happy Birthday Bri, we love ya!
ReplyDeleteBri sounds like a "keeper." Smack Randy in the back of the head like I'd seen your dad do to you and others a few times. :) mmmmm, home made tamales & tacos....(imitating Homer Simpson)
ReplyDeleteWow! Look how that little bag of tamales made your sisters step up and comment. Hey! Where have been Cherise and Melinda/Mindy? Ron/Kim needs your support here! ;o) Nice post about Bri--makes me want to meet her.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me. I'm your sister and my post wasn't even that long and in depth, with as many pictures. I think you may be stalking her. You can't have Bri Kim, she is Randy's.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Why Rory Reid?
