This has been a crazy week. It is amazing how fast time flies. This week we had 2 soccer practices, a soccer game, volleyball practice, violin practice, cello practice, cub scouts, cheer leading practice, basketball games to cheer lead, adult school, and a new venture at work.
Kathy is just finishing her pre calculus class, and I have come to the realization that she is the type of student that talks to herself when she thinks.... I have started back up my repair division for swimming pools. I just started it this week and have already had quite a few calls. Some of the calls have been to inspect pools that are empty at foreclosure homes. I don't really like foreclosure homes, most of them make me realize how this economy has damaged so many lives. On one hand it gives people an opportunity to purchase a house at an affordable price, on the other hand each one of them is a story of a family affected by this whole situation that we find ourselves in. I am not going to dwell completely on the economy, because there is really only so much that I can do, but it is interesting to discuss why we are in this mess. I love the fact that Congress came down on how irresponsible the GM leadership was for flying in on their private planes. How come there is not any outrage over the purchase of the worlds most expensive presidential limousine ever. What was wrong with the old one? Was the TV too small or not high definition ready. Did the no-flat tires need replacing, or the it was time to wash it?
How about the fact that we threw a $1,400,000.00 MTV style Presidential party? I understand the importance of the Presidency and at this point I believe that we should support him in this very difficult job. What I don't understand is why would he not recognize that when so many people are losing jobs and families are hurting, maybe the message could be sent that change might mean that the Government should show prudence in how they spend the publics money.
I am baffled how Congress could sit and tongue lash the GM leadership about how irresponsible they are, when the reality is that they were the ones that wrote and passed the laws allowing mortgage companies, and wall street to make risky loans that began this whole spiral, locking up the credit markets that prevent people from purchasing cars in the first place.
Ok, enough, back to the Review. Jake had a game today that was fun to watch. He is playing at the Community College in the Aztec league. It is a Mexican soccer league, and has been quite interesting. They recently split the team and made an older and younger team. We stayed to watch the younger team play. When the game started there was one kid on the team that was huge. The age limit is 8 years old, but this kid looked like he drove there. When the coaches questioned the other teams coaches about his age they said he was just a big kid. The first goal was scored by this kid, he kicked it from half field over everyones head and it tore into the net. Coach Gary went over to find his players card, at first they said they didn't have it, so they went to the officiating table. After a few minutes they had to admit that the kid was definitely not 8, 9 or 10 years old. Nobody would tell us his real age, I even tried to trick his kids into telling us how old he was, but they kept tight lipped. It is too bad the message that these parents are sending is that "it is OK to cheat, just don't get caught". In the end they league made them forfeit, so maybe the kids did learn something after all.
Before the game I go over and try to pretend to jog. I am not very fast, but if I am ever going to make my goal of running a half marathon, I need to keep improving. As I was halfway into my jog I noticed this chick walking ahead of me. I have to admit I was kind of checking her out. As I got closer I realized that this was my Wife. I didn't know how to react, I felt like I had just been busted doing something wrong. As I huffed my way up to her she 1) saw my shadow. 2) felt the earth shaking as I approached 3) heard me wheezing my lungs out. She didn't even turn around as I approached, she just said,.... I better not say what she said, because I was already busted, and don't need to be in any more trouble. Needless to say, from now on, when I jog I am going to keep my eyes straight ahead and turn up my the MO Tab music on the Ipod.
