So I have been thinking about this whole blog thing, and the blog world that exist out there. I don't know why I enjoy blogging, I think I find it very therapeutic to sometimes get things out there for others to read. I know that the reality is that when we write these things down, it is now part of the public domain, open for everyone to read. If I think I have a post that one of my brothers or sisters will enjoy then I will call them up and make them read it. I know, it is may be a tad bit obsessive, but that is how I am wired. As my sister Machelle knows, I have this filter between my brain and mouth that sometimes doesn't work very well when I am in conversation with her. The blog is slightly different, I can go ahead and write stuff down, rethink it and erase it before anybody else has a chance to read it (this does not include Carol and Ron the two fastest bloggers in the west) I remember Thomas Monson reciting a poem, "Boys flying kites call in their white wing birds, you can call back your kites, but you can't call back your words, words often spoken better left unsaid, because God himself can't kill them once they are said". When I have conversations I sometimes have to put the brakes on my thoughts, before they come out as words". With the blog this is different, I have a chance to proof-read, and even have Kathy look it over to make sure that it is not out of line or offensive to anyone.
Now the reason for this post, I find that as I write these things down I sometimes wish that more people would step up and leave at least a sign that they have read some of my posts. I was speaking with my Sister Mindy about this subject a while back, and I told her "It is like taking candy from a candy jar." If you were to take a piece of candy from a bowl, you would probably say "thanks for the candy." I know that not everyone has time to comment on every single topic, every single time, but if I had my wish, I would like to have some of the people that regularly visit the blog to comment. Please feel free to add your name on my follower list, If you will notice, it is pretty lame, it looks like I have no friends. If you are reading some of the blogs out there, but don't have a blog of your own, set up an account, it only takes a minute. If you will do this, you will be able to leave a comment, telling your favorite bloggers "thanks for the Candy" , "your post made my day" or "that was the dumbest thing ever, you must have stole it from someone elses blog" . Whatever you think, please feel free to comment, before I am forced to switch to Facebook and shamelessly solicit friends. I also don't want to out those of you that I know read this stuff on a regular basis (Bri, Mom, Stephanie, Britney) but I promise not to name last names.
If I haven't ever told you before, thanks for the "candy."
ReplyDeleteCarol sent me. I don't know you, but I know a few of your siblings. I'm a Steed from the old neighborhood and am in between Cherise and Darren as far as age goes. I'll admit. I have visited your blog a couple times, but only when Carol told me to. However...since I really like what I've read, perhaps I will visit more often! And I'll try to leave an occasional comment. I'm really good at being one of those take-the-candy-and-run types.
ReplyDeleteha ha! i went on here yesterday and just saw the pic, i didnt get to read it though because we have been really busy at work! i love ur blog about the bbq tho. Darren and cherise are so rude for doing that to u all the time growing up
ReplyDeleteI came, I read and I agree. *I believe some folks are content to just be good listeners(readers in the blog world).
ReplyDeleteI am Tracey, daughter to the famous Ron & Carol. I am told I am the favorite one. :) I blog and have a facebook . My reason, some of my friends & family blog, some only on facebook or even both. I have found old friends both ways and I feel by doing both I can interact with all levels. Weird you ask.. no just interesting. I love reading your blog, and will try in the future to comment more.
ReplyDeleteYou've got another follower. And this is MUCH better than Facebook. A LOT!! In case you don't know, this is Ron & Carol's favorite daughter. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhatever...I was here, and your blog sucks!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding I love it and you crack me up and teach me things about Lance that I would have never known before. For that I am forever grateful!
I forgot to tell you...
ReplyDeleteYou are one to talk about leaving comments on peoples blogs.I have yet to read a comment from you on mine! Take that :o)
Now that you have 9 followers, are you feeling better?
ReplyDeleteHey this is Doug and Mary Tebbs. We just became followers. We like to read your blog and appreciate what you have to say, you are a great writter! We really enjoyed what you wrote about our little Gracie's baby blessing. That was so great. Anyway, keep it up we enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you didn't use any last names when you called those candy thieves out! Why is it so bad if we just want to check in, get a laugh, and go about our day? I hope you are happy now. I listened to your lecture about setting up an account, which I didn't want to do, and I am leaving you a comment. Happy? By the way, tell Carol I am not stealing her candy either. You two just poke jabs at each other, so I have to go to her blog to get the meaning of the jokes you two have going on. By the way...my birthday is in June. Make a nice blog about me, and leave out the fat pictures from when I was a child, pumped full of steroids from my kidney problems. Thanks brother. Sorry he forgot about your birthday blog Cherise.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the candy. I love you!
ReplyDeleteKathy stole my comment.
ReplyDeleteI once deleted my blog because I though no one read it. Now I know what I have to do to see if anyone is reading it. Your blog is one of a kind. Besides that fact I love to see what your family is up to - your a great writer.
ReplyDeleteI am proud to see that I am one of your first followers. I see your group is growing. Maybe we need a competition to see who can get the most followers since my blog "followers" is pretty empty!
ReplyDeleteI am Carol's favorite niece. You can't quit blogging you are a great writer. I am also a follower now. :)
